And does their nonchalance with the muggle police give us an insight to James’ upbringing? Did he possibly have a muggle childhood like Hermione?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is dense with information that is crucial to the overall story. It’s definitely too much to stuff into a two hour movie. There are many challenges in adapting a novel or series of novels into scripts and movies. Plot lines are always reduced and/or eliminated. The work that has been done so far on the Harry Potter series has had reasonable success. The millions of dollars of revenue prove that the Harry Potter Fans will pay for anything HP, but will they pay for two movies made from one book? If the Studio thinks fans will not pay for and sit through one longer than average movie (3 hours plus, a rule broken successfully by the Lord of the Rings movies), will it be possible they’d think fans will happily pay for two films? So, do you think it’s possible that the final Harry Potter adventure, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be made into two movies? And if it is, where would you end movie number one and start movie two?UPDATE! 3/12/08: Producer David Heyman said last night that It will be officially announced soon that book 7 WILL BE TWO FILMS! Rowling was asked, “How many students attend Hogwarts, and how many students per year per house?” and she replied, simply, “There are about a thousand students at Hogwarts.” And because she said it, this has persisted as the proper answer accepted by most fans. The official release date of the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was announced yesterday. This date is troubling to me for several reasons. We were hoping that Book 7 could be released on July 7, which would have been 7/7/07. But the disappointment that we have apparently missed getting Book 7 on 7/7/07 is not the main reason I am troubled by the announcement of the book’s release date.

A Horcrux is a container in which the witch or wizard who makes one puts a piece of their soul to keep safe in the event that the person’s body is destroyed. A Horcrux prevents the soul from “passing on” and thereby holds the witch or wizard’s consciousness earth bound. That’s it. From that point on, steps would have to be taken to re-establish ones self in a body capable of functioning normally.

At the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Dumbledore describes the life debt that Peter Pettigrew owes Harry as “magic at its deepest, it’s most impenetrable”. But who else the in Harry Potter books might owe Harry a life debt? And are life debts and Unbreakable Vows related?

Mischief Managed… Not!

I believe there is a small mistake in the movie script of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The error is when Lupin says “Mischief managed” to the marauder’s map just after saying goodbye to Harry at the end of the movie. Fred and George stole the map from Filch. They would have no way of knowing the original incantations used to operate it. But Lupin uses the same incantation in this scene.

Who is R.A.B. and where is Slytherin’s Locket?

In the dramatic climax of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore and Harry recover a locket from Voldemort’s secret cave. Only after Dumbledore “dies” does Harry open the locket and find the note from R.A.B. But who is R.A.B., and where is the locket now?
