Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a treat. An article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution by Laura Mallory was published on January 28. Ms. Mallory wrote the article to attempt to disspell some of the misconceptions about her case to remove the Harry Potter books from the shelves in the Gwynett County School System. Here [...]

What are the unknowns, what do we know, what don’t we know, and what might we know? All this will be answered in this all-Horcrux edition of [...]

The Dursleys. Love ‘em or hate ‘em (ok, probably hate ‘em), they are family (to Harry). But will their relationship to Harry be good for them, or will the thanks they get for their kindness to Harry over the years be a healthy portion of hurtin’ from the Death Eaters? And just what is the [...]

A Horcrux is a container in which the witch or wizard who makes one puts a piece of their soul to keep safe in the event that the person’s body is destroyed. A Horcrux prevents the soul from “passing on” and thereby holds the witch or wizard’s consciousness earth bound. That’s it. From that point on, steps would have to be taken to re-establish ones self in a body capable of functioning normally.

Amazon has now put 2007 in parenthesis next to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. Phew. Despite all of the commotion and discussion that came with the March 31 date, I am very happy. I enjoyed speculating but let’s be honest, I am completely not ready for this book to come out [...]

Ruth left a comment pointing out that the search results page for Deathly Hallows on Amazon.com shows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as available March 31, 2007!!! See screenshot below. Not sure if this is the date of publication, or perhaps the date that it will be available to order; the page for Deathly Hallows itself [...]

Penny picked this up whilst listening to MuggleCast. The Wikipedia entry for The Hanged Man reads:
It is a card of profound but veiled significance. Its symbolism points to divinity, linking it to the death of Christ in Christianity and the stories of Osiris (Egyptian mythology) and Mithras (Roman mythology). In all of these stories, [...]

In Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, we learned that, to make himself immortal, Lord Voldemort ripped his soul into seven pieces, and created six horcruxes (the seventh piece of his soul still residing in his body). We know or suspect about five of the horcruxes. Is it possible that Harry is the sixth horcrux? There are clues to suggest that he is.
